Paula Solís Chilean, b. 1987

Overview

With an excellent use of pictorial techniques, Paula introduces us to a world where humanity coexists harmoniously with nature in a kind of mutual agreement. Animals, humans, their creations, and plants naturally intermingle, creating a shared habitat of astonishing beauty.

Paula Solís is a visual artist with studies in Visual Arts at the University of Chile (Santiago, Chile).

She has participated in various exhibitions and young art contests such as Artefacto in two editions (Santiago, Chile), National Young Art Contest in four editions (Valparaíso, Chile), MAVI UC Award (Santiago, Chile), among others. Statement

I use painting, primarily oil and acrylic, to create these worlds where animals, vegetation, and the human figure coexist and relate inclusively. Sometimes, the elements are taken out of their context, while in other instances, it's the original image that undergoes intervention.

The painting process can expand, at times reaching a point of abstraction, but it is still contained within the limits that the representational function allows. I seek to find a balance between recognizable graphic elements and abstract, random aspects that emerge during the trial-and-error process. This is how the images take shape, with human figures, animals, and sometimes foliage and vegetation; they are present, expectant of what will happen.
