In the 2024 version of "Motivos Personales", we allow ourselves a reflective pause, an opportunity to turn our attention around, to immerse ourselves in the ecosystem of the Chilean art scene. Beyond our goals and the continuous support to the artists we represent, once a year we pause to absorb and revitalize ourselves with the new artistic proposals that flourish in our country.
Ángela Castillo invites us to a playful exploration of the imagination with her paintings on ceramic plates, impregnated with the aesthetics of comics, and delights us with her recent work developed during a residency in Italy.
Macarena Cuevas surprises us with her meticulous work, transforming ordinary materials into modern archaeologies that defy gravity and play with space. In the work presented , she uses a matrix made of expanded polystyrene protection from discarded packaging. The lightness of the original material is challenged by using aluminum, creating a game of suspended weights.
Javiera Castillo preserves memory and tradition with her reproduction of a family vase, integrating local soil in her ceramics and accompanying it with an image that evokes her grandmother's legacy.
Débora Caro approaches a sensitive subject with a unique voice, inviting us to understand the painful reality of domestic violences and the way children experience it.
Catalina Zarzar immerses us in the poetics of black color and night evocation with her ceramic and wood sculptures, which transport us to a game of shapes and reflections. In her work "El Cielo en el Agua" (The Sky in the Water), ceramics and burnt wood merge to create limits for the water that acts as a reflection of the environment and of ourselves.
José Pérez captures our attention with his ability to create volume from the textile technique, playing with facial expressions and exploring the meaning of the mask in art and society.
